Chicago (IL) - Tivo, which last year launched remote mobile scheduling through Verizon Wireless, is making another foray into mobile phones – this time around with Research In Motion. The two companies plan to bring a variety of Tivo services to your BlackBerry, allowing you to "wirelessly control" your DVR from the comfort of your smartphone.

Tivo and RIM are specifically developing "mobile entertainment services" which tie together BlackBerries and content from the Tivo service. BlackBerry owners will initially be able to see what shows are on and schedule television recordings "while away from the living room and on the go." There seems to be no indicators this will be wireless provider specific, so one can assume, for now, that you can access this feature regardless of who your carrier might be.

Future partnerships between Tivo and RIM will focus on "software applications that further simplify mobile access to video content." Perhaps this could mean some type of streaming of select Tivo video content from the variety of videos you can download to your DVR? As for the application letting you schedule TV recordings on the go, it is expected to be available later this year.
