First details about Intel’s upcoming dual-core Atom processor have been published by German website heise.de. The magazine said that the CPU is likely to be called Atom 330 and will debut with a thermal design power of 8 watts.

An interesting note is that this CPU will be built from two Silverthorne (while the power consumption actually points to Diamondville cores) dies and for compact desktop PCs. Intel is expected to be using the Hyperthreading-capable higher-end of its Silverthorne line-up to support four threads per CPU.

More details are expected to be revealed on Thursday.
