ATI's 1-2-3 combo with the 4850, 4870, and now 4870x2 has got Nvidia reeling. And not only on just performance, but performance per dollar, and that is simply huge.

Funny that Nvidia has the same problem as the car industry right now; they have been living by the mantra "bigger is better" for years now. The 200 series chips are so large, and thus so expensive to manufacture, that they can't scale their prices down in order to compete with ATI, well without taking losses.

Nvidia took ATI for granted...

ATI took a huge hit as they should have under the new regime. They announce that they were not competing in the performance market and got killed.

Matrox did the same thing back when they were respectable and now look their a niche market. ATI would have followed had they continued on with the stated path.

Intel took us for granted and that gave AMD its launch into first place. That sparked Intel to begin competing again and for some time weve been getting great processing value for our dollar.

Its too bad that it took lawsuits to cease the collusion of RAM pricing.

This is great for us, with competition we almost always win. Without it you'll get what Nvidia tried to give us and that's stop gap old tech times 2.
