Palm, the once mobile devices darling which saw its fortunes plummet in recent years, seems to be making quite the nice comeback these days. The company reportedly just sold its two-millionth Centro smartphone.
Palm said today the Centro, currently sold in more than 25 countries, is moving up AdMob's Mobile Metrics report. It first appeared on the worldwide list in May at number eight and since then moved up to number seven. "Consumers are ready to do more on their mobile phone, and Centro has struck a chord around the world," said Brodie Keast, senior vice president of marketing for Palm, in a written statement. "Centro has everything a person needs to stay connected with everyone who is important to them - and at a price point and size that make smartphones more attractive to a much wider audience." Palm also reportedly showed strong growth among smartphone manufacturers, according to the same AdMob report, "ranking No. 2 in the United States in mobile advertising reach, and No. 3 worldwide." The AdMob report "analyzes worldwide data to gauge mobile Internet use among devices able to receive mobile ads."
