Apple sells 2.5 million Macs in Q2

Apple reported $7.46 billion in revenue and $1.07 billion in net earnings for the second quarter (FQ3 2008) of this year. Both numbers were significantly up over last year’s Q2 when Apple posted $5.41 billion of sales and a net quarterly profit of $818 million.

The company shipped 2,496,000 Macintosh computers during the quarter, representing 41% unit growth and 43% revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. The Company also sold 11,011,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 12% unit growth and 7% revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. Quarterly iPhone units sold were 717,000 compared to 270,000 in the year-ago-quarter.
