New York (NY) – American Airlines is testing anti-missile laser systems in some of its cross-country New York to Los Angeles flights.  The lasers are made by BAE Systems and are installed on the bottom of the plane.  According to WBZTV, the system can misdirect incoming missiles by dazzling the seeker head.

Unfortunately only a handful of planes on select routes will be fitted with the system because they cost approximately $1 million per plane.
