Everyday, I'm getting pissed off more and more with statements from some CEOs and whatnot. First, only otakus and geeks would want an HDD for the Wii, now this.

It's easy to be so consumed with your own products that reality is a distant memory.

The Wii play all games other than bleeding edge violent shooters at half the price of the PS3, so which is REALLY the expensive niche gaming device?

You guessed it: the PS3.

(and yes I do play all three consoles and see the value in each)

It's seems a little naive to think that the Wii isn't a competitor. I would agree that the Wii isn't a close competitor. But Stringer should have stood outside retail stores last Christmas when people were opting to buy the Wii over the PS3. Funny how a non-competitor was taking Sony's would-be customers.

And if I want a blu-ray player badly enough. I will --- you know --- go buy a blu-ray player. It's a convenience not a selling point if you ask me.

The people buying a Wii are not people who would buy a PS3. That's why the Wii is selling so high-- the buyers are not gamers.

I find it amusing that the third place competitor with the most expensive machine is calling the first place competitor with the least expensive machine an "expensive niche".

In response to the previous comment. I'm a gamer and have bought only a Wii, and I know I'm not the only one to have done so.

If the Wii buyers are not gamers then what are they buying the wii for? Surely to just sit and collect dust like that PS3 right?
