The Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT) under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will urge Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) to set up a certification testing center in Taiwan in order to accelerate the development of Android-based handsets, according to Wen-jen Ho, director of Multimedia Technologies Laboratory (MTL) of the government-backed Institute for Information Industry (III). Ho made the remarks at a seminar on the latest development of smartphones jointly sponsored by the DOIT and Digitimes on June 25. More here at Digitimes.
