Over the past several days, we have heard rumors that Intel may be launching its Larrabee accelerator card during Siggraph. These rumors can be traced back to a keynore given by Intel's chief technology officer, Justin Rattner.

But, as it turns out, Rattner was only referring to a paper and technical details that the company apparently planned to release at Siggraph 2008. We spoke with several sources close to Intel and are confident to say that Intel will not release a paper that is going to detail Larrabee as well as how it will work with existing APIs.

Larrabee itself, of course, is far from being ready to be released. Larrabee has not even made it onto internal product roadmaps yet, since those plans provide an overview of only five quarters. However, Larrabee is on the long-term roadmap and known as "The ****** Book". At this time, Larrabee is slated for a late 2009 introduction as a high-end desktop part.

Volume products and mainstream desktop/notebook parts are planned for a 2010 introduction.
