Does Sony think this is the reason why people won't buy their system/games?

I wonder if they will reward "Trophies" for watching blu-ray movies.

No, this is what stands the PS3 apart from (above) other platforms. Continuous updates, new features, added functionality, listening to their customers. It is yet another reason why the PS3 is better than the rest.

p.s. - How are those HD-DVD's working out for ya? :)

No doubts PS3's performance is an achievement and worth mentioning.

However, I'm just sick of any ps3 fan post up to reassure me that PS3 is the best, they did this and this, owns everything... for the past year. Their popularity is definitely no where near as anticipated, that's a fact.. a fact for more than enough time for anyone to accept.

It's people like that that's giving me a bad impression on PS3. (Loud thunder, small rain droplets)

I totally agree with you. Sony should consider using smaller fabrication process to lower power consumption, bring the price down (waiting for E3 to see that happen), more titles for PS3 and improve their online network.

I've been eagerly awaiting this update for some time, i'm aure there will be plenty of us out there that will appreciate being able to send messages while in game...

Now all i want is a way to choose when i want to download something via the PS3 network. If i don't plan on going online during a game i don't need my 1 ~ 2GB demo i'm downloading to be stopped in the off chance it might effect my gaming experience. Oh and the only other thing that needs a rehaul is the music system, if you want to store mp3s on the PS3 itself the sorting options are awful, a browsable folder structure would be much easier and cleaner...

Hamurabi, one thing about the whole "bring the price down" that doesn't make sense is that everyone says well the PS3 is bad bc its so expensive. But if you look at it the 360 is more expensive if you want all the same features as the ps3. sure the original price is lower but if you want wireless that's another $100 right there and if you want a high def player (even though HD-DVD has bitten the dust) that's another chunk of change. plus something that i know a lot of people mention is the fact that you pay $60 or so dollars and than have to pay how ever much to play online. so in the long run the 360 is much more expensive than the ps3 if you want the same features.

The 360 does keep up with the updates. Sure you say if you want a High Def you could buy the HD-DVD player add on, but HD DVD is dieing, if not dead. Instead you get downloadable HD content. Which is really cheaper than blu-ray discs. I know you don't have a copy of the show on media.

Wireless? Seriously, you're going to base it on wireless? I'm a gamer and I always have my stuff plugged in with CAT6 or CAT5e. Wireless will cause more latency than copper.

Playing to play online - $50/year is not a lot to pay. Espially when the online experience is better than PS3. Plus it keeps the community cleaner than the PS3's because they can block consoles and credit card numbers from playing online if they are cheating, d-bag, etc. I find it very convient to be able to find my friends and family online quick and see what they are playing and then join in.

Oh yeah smokinace007, you said the 360 would be more expensive than the PS3 if it had all those features. You forgot the main feature somebody buys a console system for -- GAMES. I believe Sony forgot about that little tidbit.
