Taipei (Taiwan) - DFI is looking to get back to its glory days: In the past, the company made waves with its nForce 4 SLI motherboard, but the enthusiasm for the brand and DFI’s products slowed has down. Now the company is looking to re-establish its market presence with a CrossFire micro-ATX motherboard.

Unlike all mainstream motherboards with AMD's 780G or 790GX chipset,  this mATX board has two PCIe Gen2 x16 slots, which allow users to plug in two ATI-powered cards. Even better, this motherboard supports dual-slot cards, so even Quad-CrossFire is doable (two 3870 X2 or 4870 X2).

To create a convincing overclocking mATX motherboard, BIOS wizard Oscar Wu even moved to DFI's office, where he is apparently working night and day in order to come up with overclocking options. Time will tell can if this product can get DFI back into the market, but if you are looking for a compact, yet potential gaming machine, this just might do the trick.

The motherboard will come to market during the summer, we were told.

i saw 1 test on quad sli with nvida 9800gtx cards it wasn much beter fram rate then a singl 9800gtx on most gams has anbody kno of a quad test with 3870x2?

There was a review (anandtech I think?) that showed you barely get any improvement from 3-4 due to early driver issues but that with 2 X2s you got almost linear scaling on some games while others showed no benefit beyond one X2. It really depends on the game, but the X2 integration is more fluid and with the new drivers there has been a major boost to those card.

I guess if one is looking for a small gaming machine, it would be ideal. I think it would be great for any one looking for somthing to fill a small box. :)

"DFI is looking to get back to its glory days" I remember those days, when I used to be a huge fan of DFI and their products, until they betrayed all their loyal customers, by not supporting their products. Never again.
