Maybe they should have asked Google to remove the images instead of demanding. It's not like they can sue Google to remove it. Now they're just drawing attension to themselves.

Most probably this community intended to draw the attention of the press to itself. Luckily everything "Google" is being covered so free advertisement for them!

Pretty spiffy place "north oaks, st paul, Minnesota" and look at the street view photo at the intersection of "E Gilfillan Rd / Hwy 96 E". And according to the linked article they were going to press charges for trespassing if Google didn't take the photos down.

i saw a picture of my home and street on there. it freaked me out. but u can always ask them to take the images down. plus it's a nifty tool when looking for a home of a friends or a party and you don't know how the house looks.

Should I have to waste my time looking after google and any other site that might do that [street view], just to ask them to take down the pictures that I don't want of my home. What if I do not want to bother, but sure as hell do not want others to see my house? And what about the case when the picture has already made it to other websites, like the ones collecting funny images from exactly google street view, but let's say on a lesser known social network profile or blog... once they are online who knows where they could go. And no amount of protection can save me. Even if they disable the print-screen function, I can always run the site on a virtual machine or get a physical camera and point it at the screen! So, stop invading my privacy. I know it's good for business, but it's good for crappy society too. Basically you're saying paparazzi are right in their job! Paparazzi are parasites IMO, and no amount of free speech and freedom of information lecture can make me change my mind. There are some things that should be banned. I've got nothing to hide, but that's from the government and authorities in general, not from my neighbours and peers. I've got a lot to hide from them, or in a better phrased sentence, I don't want them finding out on their own. That's my privacy point of view!

Maybe North Oaks really wants more viewers. Why point it out if you don't want everyone to look? I bet more people look at that little insignificant spot outside Saint Paul than before. If you don't believe me, try walking on a crowded street and see how many people notice you...not many, I wager. Now do it again and yell "DON'T LOOK AT ME, DON'T LOOK AT ME" and everyone will of course. I think they want us to look...I did.
...it could even challenge people to post more photos of the area, or develop a game of question and answers, like "Find the swimming pools with the most bikini babes" or the driveways with the most expensive cars. Sounds like a challenge to me. Has the URL of northoaks.com been taken? We could build a website to poke fun at them...

SO, why does a community advertise with their own website for selling property, then yell to Google, "Don't Look at Me!" in a poor real estate economy. I think we know now.
