Quark today launched a new version of its desktop publishing suite QuarkXPress. Generation 8 keeps its aim at high-end publishing, but extends its reach with new Web and Flash authoring tools.

Among the new features are a picture content tool to grab, rotate, and scale images in real-time, new bézier pen tools, workspace enhancements for instant access to PDF, EPS, SWF, and HTML content, as well as a revised drag and drop tool to simplify the handling of text and pictures from other applications, including Adobe Bridge, Photoshop and Illustrator.

QuarkXpress 8 is expected to be available within 60 days. Pricing has not been announced.
