Houston (TX) – A Continental Airlines pilot says he had a close call with a rocket as it flew past the cockpit on Memorial Day. The flight had just taken off from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport on its way to Cleveland when the pilot and several passengers saw a rocket and a smoke trail miss the plane. Federal Aviation Administration officials say they are investigating, but believe the object was a model rocket. This would make sense as Memorial Day is a huge day for amateur rocket clubs to test out their highest flying projects.
