Chicago (IL) – There are those things that don’t look right, like resembling the look of Windows Vista on an iPhone. Even if just looks like the Microsoft operating system, some may consider such a move the ultimate sin of an iPhone owner.

The images we received imply that somehow has found a way to get Windows running on an iPhone. As soon as you pick yourself up from the floor and you catch up with reality, you will find out that this is just a sorta-Vista iPhone. It doesn’t run Windows, not natively and not in emulation mode, but is simply a pixel-perfect skin for the iPhone GUI, complete with a taskbar, a round Start button, icons, wallpapers, user interface elements and even sounds, including Windows chimes. The lock screen is also modified, as well as boot and restore screens.

A user of the ModifyMyiFone website nicknamed Spec-Works has created the theme called Vista Perfection 2.0 that perfectly mimics the Vista look. If you are seriously interested in installing this theme, you can as it is publicly available, but you will need a jailbroken iPhone. Detailed and complex installation instructions are available here but you may want to think twice before jailbraking your iPhone just to have Vista look. Spec-Works said he is working on a simplified installation process.

It's almost certain that the upcoming iPhone 2.0 system software update will not allow developers to completely change the built-in software appearance. Within the developer documentation, Apple strictly discourages programmers from deviating from uniform, consistent user interface guidelines.

That has not stopped an already strong skinning community out there to create more skins that will pimp the handset. We are not aware of any skins that provide a meaningful benefit, but if you are a die-hard Vista fan who always resented the iPhone's user interface, you will certainly feel more at home with Vista skin on your iPhone.

I am a growing "fan" of Vista (LastV anyone?), or at least I don't hate it anymore. But this is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I got a pretty good kick out of booting my PC into Leapord, but this takes the cake.
