San Jose (CA) – Adobe has released a beta version of their upcoming Flash Player 10. Code-named “Astro”, the new player includes 3D effects, video card acceleration and support for larger bitmap images of up to 8191 pixels per side.  On the audio side, FP10 comes with a higher quality Speex audio codec.

Flash Player 10 weighs in as a 1.7 to 5.5 MB download and is available for Windows, Macs and Linux.  You can also install it as an ActiveX control within your browser.  Brave beta testers are advised to uninstall all of their current Flash Players before trying out FP10.
