ASIMO robot conducts Detroit Symphony PDF Print E-mail

Detroit (MI) – Honda’s 4-foot tall ASIMO robot recently conducted the Detroit Symphony.  The gleaming white robot mimicked the movements of a real conductor and orchestrated the song “The Impossible Dream”.  Afterwards it took a final bow to the cheers of the crowd.

Real conductors don’t have to worry about losing their jobs any time soon because the ASIMO was merely pre-programmed with the conductor’s head and hand movements.  The robot does not yet have the ability to adjust to the pace of the symphony players.

Honda recently donated $1 million to the Detroit Symphony.
