Keep the push going. Major changes need to be made, this is a good step in the right direction. Sure they call them zero emission, but the electricity comes from somewhere. Luckily, the power plant is a significantly better source of power than a gasoline engine.

I agree, this is a good move on the part of Nissan. Electric cars are the way of the future no matter what anybody says. Solar, wind and thermo power efficiency capabilities are only going to go up and pollutants from these sources is going to go down.

Yes, don't let idiots tell you otherwise. Even burning all the gasoline at a power plant would be better than millions of cars because the fuel could be used much more efficiently in a large-scale operation that recycles the heat energy -- combustion engines are terribly inefficient.

Even more important, once you have hybrid/electric vehicles on the road, they become greener and more efficient every time they increase the efficiency of an existing powerplant or bring renewable energy plants online, like Solar, Wind, Hydro, Geothermal, sequestered Coal, etc. It's also much easier to regulate the emissions of large power plants than individual cars. What if in 10 years a scientist comes up with a relatively cheap and easy way to capture C02 (and particulates) from coal plants? If you have millions of electric cars on the road, they can benefit immediately. Not so with gasoline -- everyone would still have to re-buy new vehicles.

Even at the current time, electric cars recharging overnight during off-peak powerplant hours can actually increase the efficiency of the power plant and level out demand. And for people in the southwest (solar) or midwest (wind) especially, they can possibly recharge their vehicles from home installs of renewable energy equipment.
