During our talks with Google employees over the years, we know that the company intends to deploy to solid state technology as quickly as possible. Apparently, the IT department isn't happy with the seek times of traditional hard drives and expects SSDs to solve this problem in certain applications. And now it appears that Intel has struck a deal with Google and is able to provide enough SSDs fro Google's massive demand. First SSDs are planned to be installed as replacements for regular hard drives in servers, using Intel NAND flash and and Marvell controllers. Read more at Digitimes.
