London (England) - The president of Sony Computer Entertainment Kaz Hirai says that the company has "only really begun to scratch the surface" when it comes to the PS3, and is confident that it will overtake the Wii and Xbox 360 in sales.

Hirai made the comments in an interview with BBC during a Playstation event in England.  

"We've only really begun to scratch the surface with PlayStation 3, but I am confident that given the long life-cycle we have planned for the machine, we are going to have a very good install base," he said in the interview.

There is no doubt that the PS3 is a fine system. We will have to wait and see, but I think his optimism could become very real.

If his cycle means better games in the next couple of years then sure, but if it takes too long the next gen. will be out.

PS3 is not selling. Period. This guy is working to get a raise, not to sell more machines, which he couldn't do if his life depended on it. PS3 is dead.

Don't see it happening

Even when HD-DVD stopped production, you didn't see a huge increase in sales for the PS3 or Blu-Ray players. I don't see Sony scratching the surface of the Wii or 360's sales.
