El Paso (Texas) – The United States Air Force has grounded its supersonic T-38C training jet after its second fatal crash in eight days. Two pilots died in the crash which happened near Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. On April 23, another T-38C crashed near Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.
The T-38C jet is used as a supersonic jet trainer for pilots going into high-performance fighter and bomber jets. It has two seats for the student and trainer. Since 1959, the T-38C crashes have claimed 138 lives.
