New York (NY) - With the much-publicized problems of the Playstation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto leaving PS3 owners upset, the game's publisher has released details on how to fix the glitches, and it's not an easy process.

According to a posting on Take-Two's technical support website, the problems were connected to the large installation file that users need to put on the console's hard drive, a step not required in the Xbox 360 version.

Soon after the game was released there was a problem with the PS3 servers causing the online mode of the game to be shut down.  Sony said that it was aware of the problem and was "looking into it," but problems persisted.

Take-Two has now taken steps into its own hands, telling users to basically clean out their PS3 and start it back up again.

The entire 12-step process, which is posted in extreme detail at Gamespot, involves deleting the installation file, deleting the game save file, disabling the PS3 Internet connection and all other features related with that (information board, media server, etc), and then doing a hard reset before restoring all of that data.

Sony also told the gaming site that "an extremely low volume" of complaint calls were actually coming in regarding GTA IV.
