The HD-DVD add-on (WHICH WAS THE BETTER FORMAT) bombed, why in the hell would they want to put a Blew-Ray drive on the 360?

That will jack up the price (especially with royalties that they would have to pay).

It wont be used for games because of the millions of 360 on the market with DVD drive. So it will only be used for movies.

If they would have put an HD-DVD drive in the 360 from the start the format might still be alive.

Hey M$ stop giving us crap we don't want.
Here's some suggestions:
Make the HD standard on ALL SKUs
Make xbox Live free (or at least drop the price to $29 for the year)
Drop the ridiculous price of the add-on HD and wi-fi dongle
And shut your mouth.

still good news because it just makes the 360 more desirable, but after tons of statements saying that they are not looking into blu ray and are focusing on digital distribution, this is just hypocrisy.

I'm in the other camp. But since most of the big games are multiplatform it would be nice to not have to force developers to cram it all into the smaller DVD format.

I think the eventual Blu enabled xbox will be a good thing.

Agreed. If Xbox360 had a Blu-Ray drive, then I could compare it's BD playback quality against the PS3.

I would consider buying a BD-Xbox360 if it meant great-to-excellent BD picture quality plus opening the door to all the Xbox titles that I would consider playing.

Unless the come up with a way to quite the 360's fans/hdd/and new BD drive I wouldn't bother buying a 360 for movies.

Before fanboys rip me it's well noted that I prefer the 360 for gaming and PS3 for movies. I own all 3 consoles and a PC, I don't care who wins the console wars, etc..., etc..., etc... All i'm saying here is that the 360 is a little loud for movies.

Actually, they really need to put blew-ray on the 360. This feature is one of the major reasons to buy a PS3 at this point. Taking away that advantage will put the 360 back in the front since they have better games, not to mention a better online service.

Also the term "better" is a matter of opinion. I also think HD DVD was a "better" technology. The actually technology is only one part of why to buy a certain product. Cost, features, etc. all figure into it.

So you mean blu ray is better at:

*** DRM
*** region coding
*** players not compatible with some new movie selections because of laxed rules
*** higher player cost
*** higher media cost
*** higher retail movie cost
*** lacking the easy ability to have combo disk (because of disc structure)
*** lacks ethernet connection
*** lacks picture-in-picture
*** lacks yada yada yada of things that was built in from start with hd dvd (current owners of most stand alone need new player BD2.0 or greater players)

Oh yeah size, but why are many movies being released on one BD25 or two disk BD25's? And not BD50's?

Oh wait all HD DVD movies were on 30 gig dual layered.

And lastly let me understand this again.

A professional team of experts from various backgrounds, visual quality, audio, technology etc (the dvd consortium aka forum) found hd dvd the best for consumers and VC-1 the best compression format.
