Orlando (FL) – According to a study by McKinsey & Co., data centers will surpass airlines as greenhouse gas polluters by 2020. The study concludes that data center pollution will rise four-fold because of inefficiencies with servers.
The study was sponsored by the Uptime Institute and you can view the entire document here. Will Forrest, the author of paper, claims computer servers generally only use six percent of their capacity while data centers as a whole only use 56% of their peak performance. Read more … New York Times.
