Seoul (South Korea) – South Korea’s first astronaut has been hospitalized for back and neck pain stemming from last week’s rough landing aboard a Russian Soyuz capsule.  Yi So-yeon had to cancel her meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak after complaining of pains.  South Korea’s Science Ministry says there don’t appear to be any serious health problems.

Yi So-yeon works as a bioengineer for the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and was one of three astronauts who returned to Earth on April 19th.  The capsule made an unusually steep descent and landed approximately 260 miles off course.  According to early measurements, the astronauts experienced 8Gs for up to two minutes of the landing.
