Google’s book scanning proceeds one page at a time PDF Print E-mail

Ann Arbor (MI) – Librarians in 28 libraries are busily scanning old dusty books one monotonous page at a time for Google’s Book Search.  Some librarians only scan 600 pages a day and Google has millions of books to go.

Eventually 50 to 100 million books will be available on Google’s Book Search.  The company is paying libraries and universities for the digitization service.  At the University of Michigan, one million books have been scanned so far, but there are six million to go.
