Tel Aviv (Israel) – A member of an elite Israeli intelligence unit was jailed for 19 days after military officials discovered that he posted his picture to the popular social networking site Facebook. The Israeli defense ministry says young soldiers are often posting their pictures along with sensitive information about bases, procedures and even submarines to social networking sites.
The ministry reviewed the sites earlier this year and found that nearly 100 personnel posted pictures and information. Some of those soldiers were jailed, while others got off easy with a verbal reprimand. While 19 days in jail may seem harsh for a Facebook photo, telling the whole world that you belong to an elite intelligence unit isn’t the smartest thing in the world. Read more … BBC.
