At the recent Finetech Japan 2008 in Tokyo, Japan, executives from the Japanese government and top TV vendors such as Sony and Sharp shared a common view that energy reduction is a key issue for the Japan display industry in 2008. Hideichi Okada, director general of Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), stated that the government is happy with the direction of the TV industry as it moves toward consuming less energy each year.
