Cambridge (MA) - Rock Band has become a veritable treasure trove for artists new and old to strike a new consumer base, and now oldies rock group Judas Priest has taken it one step further.

The 1980s group has released its "Screaming For Vengeance" album in its entirety for the innovative Harmonix game.  Since its release several months ago, dozens of new tracks have been added as downloadable content.

The 10-track album originally debuted in 1982 at #17 on the Billboard list of pop albums.  It is what brought Judas Priest to the front lines, reaching much higher ranks than the punk rock group's previous seven records.

Last month, joint creators MTV Games and Harmonix announced that six million tracks had been downloaded over the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band.



Because of the success of downloadable content, Harmonix also introduced a new update for Rock Band, allowing users to browse and purchase new songs directly from the game menu and also listen to previews of available tracks.

The full "Screaming For Vengeance" album is available for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).  Tracks are also up for purchase individually at 160 Microsoft Points ($2) each.  The songs are up now for the Xbox 360 version of the game and will be posted for the PS3 later this week.

Gosh.... oldies?

Judas Priest were and still are a HEAVY METAL band. Rob Halford is considered the grandfather of metal. Not a punk band as reported. Geez, if you are gonna write something, at least google the subject matter.
