Maybe their adding a browser? It's about the only thing it doesn't have that the others do. Should redo the interface to IMO. It looks ok I guess but it's defiantly the worst of the 3 consoles.

Sorry AJ... you once again show you don't know what you are talking about. XBOX's interface has long been touted as best in breed among game consoles. The other two will continue to play catch-up for some time.

Anyway I'm on RockHop's side, along with the rest of the game industry, the Xbox live interface is considered one of the best out there plus one of the reasons for the 360s success. I would suspect Sony and Nintendo are trying to get to that level of accolades from the gaming industry.

Though AJ it's a good idea to add a browser, but do I really want the vulnerabilities of IE 7.0 on my 360? Probably not, and actually I remember Microsoft stating something to that extent somewhere...though much more indirectly.

lol. how can anyone say the xbox360 has the best interface. looks like a cartoon. certainly not something for a next gen console. its meant to be a high def machine yet everything is so big and low res. certainly time they completely revamped it. ive not used the wii interface but ive got a ps3 and an xbox360 and it always feels like im taking a step backwards when i use the xbox360. ive got nothing against the blade interface itself. the information and features are fine, just think it should be much sharper and more modern looking. maybe keep the current look for people with regular tvs. but if you got a 1080p hdtv then it should be nice and sharp and clear. mayb it can look like vista.lmao

The purpose of any GUI is to be usable. It doesn't matter what it looks like if it is a pain in the butt to interact with.

Think Vista and Aero.

I agree that the interface in the Xbox360 is the best of all 3 consoles (I own all 3, the Wii gets the most play, the PS3 hardly gets touched at all and was a waste of money...) But an Internet browser? Give me a break! That's the last thing it needs.

The interface is fine, hopefully they leave it alone. I hope the update will speed up the dashboard. It's incredibly slow in some areas. Maybe a few areas could be streamlined again, but nothing really needs changing.

the only reason i prefer Live is bcz it works with really slow connections. my country doesnt hav Hi-speed, so i get a lot of lag when playing online on my ps3, but my friends tell me that the 360 has fewer lags, probably bcz of the p2p networking or something (which i hope the PSN will use in the future, but highly unlikely :( ). and guyz wats the point of arguing abt interfaces? its the gameplay dat counts, if one had more lag than the other, than obviously the almost lag-free one is better.

In a recent tech radio podcast, a caller wanted to play Xbox Live as he parked at various ("18-wheeler") truck stops, but was unable to because the wireless security at the truck stop required that he load a browser and sign-in before the wireless access points would allow him to join the network. Understanding that the PS3 would work just fine for this, the truck driver had a preference for Xbox Live and wanted to know what, if anything, could he do to provide the security credentials and get on-line using the 360.

I find the 360's interface too convoluted. I feeling like I'm pressing alt-tab on a PC when I have to navigate through all the blades to get to things. But alas, it's personal preference. You can't say one is really better than the other as a fact. Because it's not a fact, it's a personal preference.

Or maybe the upgrade is to allow higher subscription prices. Yay!
