In-Stat believes that four out of ten music track sales will be digital by 2012. The market research firm said that digital music sales reach a share of 10% on a global basis in 2007, up from 6% in 2006. Factors contributing to this growth include the global expansion of broadband, continued demand for single-track downloads, and expanding music catalogues, according to In-Stat.

Recent reports indicated that digital music sales in the U.S. currently hold a 29.1% market share.
