huh??? Last I checked the 360 had a 10 million console lead on the PS3.

The PS3 (which I like and own) would need to sell a 150,000 consoles a month to catch up in 5 years!!! Selling an extra 5 to 10 thousand more a month isn't going to help them overcome that lead in the generation. I just don't understand why the so called annalists want to spin this story so bad.

He means in weekly sales, not overall sales. He isn't trying to spin anything.

he meant monthly sales. not all time sales. and the ps3 can catch up since it's popular in japan as well as europe and north america while the 360 is mostly europe and north america. the ps3 will outsell the 360 in the long run(3-4 years) mainly because the ps3 was made to last much longer. a new MS box will come out in like 3 years.

but in england. The X360 is mostly an american thing, worldwide the PS3 is doing pretty well considering that it's only been out a year and 1/2

The PS3 should eventually catch the 360 because it appeals to two different segments of consumers...gamers and movie watchers. As long as stand alone Blu-Ray players continue to cost as much as a PS3 it should continue to appeal to both markets and Sony knows this hence forth the reason their own players continue to cost a fortune. That and they now know they are the only high def game in town for the time being. Sony will probably never catch MS in the USA though. They would have to begin to outsell MS at a 3 to 1 margin for a couple years just to pull even and so far that isn't happening. By the time Sony were to create that kind of momentum MS will release a new console.

We'll see the NPD number when they come out in a week or so. I haven't seen the so-called Xbox shortage. I see stacks at all three Fry's and Best Buy locations near where I live. That's just the M$ spin machine. They need to make up good excuses while they aren't covering up the Xbox fires that are maming people.

They do need to produce more, though. Even if only to replace the 1 out of 6 new units that die on average.

The PS2 still holds a strong sales presence despite the superiority of the PS3. The news would be slightly more valuable to me if the PS3 could beat the PS2 in terms of monthly sales! That would show a clear adoption of present generation console systems.

I'm not sure how it can be said that the piece of s#@$ 3 is made to last longer. Both have close to the same hardware. Perhaps because it's got the blu-ray player in it. Games and the online service are still superior on the xbox, IMO.
