Whenever you hear something about Bit Torrent, there is a pretty good chance that it is about the dark side of the Internet. But there is good news about BitTorrent as well. A San Francisco-based published a book about Mac users.

No Starch Press’ “Cult of Mac” and "Cult of iPod" are made available in the form of a torrent file through The Pirate Bay. It appears this experiment was quite successful: The titles were recently listed at #1 and #2 in the Pirate Bay eBook Top 100 ranking. The website does not provide download statistics.

It would be interesting to see what kind of legal distribution channels could be deployed online, if a fair usage policy would be applied.

If you're interested in reading a book about the faithful followers and religious zealots, you should point your browser to these pages: Cult of Mac and Cult of iPod. The actual download of the ebooks requires a BitTorrent client.
