I was going to upgrade earlier this week. I even downloaded the Service Pack and it's on my desktop.

Thankfully, I also read here on TGDaily from another comment that there were driver issues.

I didnt have any problems with the Realtek drivers. It must be only certain Realtek products.

My computer had a horrible bug that kept crashing it over and over... So I downloaded the SP when it was first leaked RTM... never had any problems with instalation and it fixed up all my bugs nicely. Maybe since I have the 64bit version? I have no idea but I didnt get any install issues.

Firts, backed up all my data, then added a freshly formatted HD on which I installed Vista Ultimate x64 (for my PC). Backup, and a fresh format on second HD with Home Premium x32 for my laptop.

After installs I went straight to Windows Update and let it go until SP1 had been successfully download...and installed =)
THEN I installed all my neccesary drivers.
Was worried about the Realtek onboard audio and Creative X-Fi drivers for the PC.
Realtek, Authentec fingerprint, Sigmatel, and Texas Smart Card drivers for the laptop.

I ran both through SuperPI, OCCT, Everest, PcMark, 3dMark, and two instances Prime95 (assigned to separate cores).

Both were stable throughout the whole trial (about 24 hours of constant use). SP1 for me is stable and seemingly more responsive than before. Benchmark numbers were slightly improved, hopefully will get better with matured drivers from Nvidia and Creative (slackers!).


(!)Suggestions(!):

BACKUP DATA BEFORE! And I HIGHLY recommend a Fresh install of Vista. I am scared to upgrade my other installations just yet.

-=Install updates and SP1 BEFORE all of your other drivers. If your drivers worked before SP1 they most likely will still work=-

Can someone who HAS had problems please post your experiences?

Maybe Microsoft should make the integrated sp1 dvd image available to all users. This is far less troublesome than the standalone exe installer. Takes less time to install too. Although you will have to reinstall all your applications and move your data again.

I didn't have any install problems, but then I also didn't see any improvements afterward. In fact, PCWorld gave a pretty negative report on Vista SP1...

Successfully Installed in one machine which is a desktop.

hv to try on my Lenovo laptop and one more desktop..

Installed on HP notebook without any issues and no problems since. Seems to be slightly faster on internet downloads.
