nVidia must be feeling the pain from ATI/AMD and now Intel and it's full system product threats. Via is a good company, but usually their product is lackluster for the enthusiast market. I don't see nVidia getting any good out of Via's offerings.

No its not Nvida being power hungry its just that Nvida seeing the end of their life if they do not.

Intel has announce they will be adding GPU to their new CPU's, and AMD aquired ATI so they could include a GPU with their CPU's.

So with that in mind the need for a seprate CPU and GPU, ala the PCI-E expansion slots will be out dated. So in the future you upgrade your GPU by upgrading your CPU.

They dont VIA for for the products, they want them fopr thier X86 licenses.

I totally agree it is for the x86 license, but not specifically to manufacture x86 CPU's: With Larrabee. If Intel pulls it off like they plan to, could create HUGE headaches for any graphic company: Reason being that it runs native IA cores. Even if it is not as fast, or even not nearly, thing is that developers WILL be using it, and I'm not even referring to game deveopers; scientific, engineering etc instead of Tesla simply because it is IA and they do not have to learn things like CUDA.

I think that Larrabee WILL be a tremendous success and the benefits is obvious with amount of IA libs and standatdization to one uArch (As opposed to imcompatible CUDA and CTM). AMD/ATI can manufacture competing, but standardized compatible products (Not like GeForce/Tesla/CUDA vs. Radeon/Firestream/CTM), which I think they will defintely (Eventually anyway), even further shrinking NVidia developer base and accordingly marketshare and company worth. They need this NOW, even though I'm an Intel fan.

If they eventually do manufacture CPU's as well, good for them.

first of all, Intel's CPU GPU combination will be using a variant of their existing integrated graphics solution, which is nowhere near competitive with anything ATI or AMD is doing.
Larrabee, Intel's x86 coprocessor/graphics card, will be available only in the form of an addon card, at least at first.
It's not yet known if Larrabee's unique solution will be a success or not, but either way I don't think nVidia has to worry about "seeing the end of their life" anytime soon. I definitely think Larrabee and other Intel ideas will be interesting, and I think AMDs Fusion concept will be much better than intels with it actually integrating a decent GPU into the CPU, but Nvidia is not stupid and they have alot of cash on hand. I'm sure they have a lot of R&D going on right now, and I wouldn't rule out a partnership with someone like IBM. If they can continue to 'rule the roost' of the graphics card market, I don't think it will matter if Intel's solution is native x86; they will both be rendering OpenGL or DirectX instructions. The x86 aspect of Larrabee only comes into play when talking about stream processing where you are using these cards for computations other than realtime graphics.

...but with Intel, Nvidia and Ati outperforming VIA in what what VIA can do best (and probably the only thing they can do), VIA should sell or die. At least with Nvidia they have a chance to be most useful.
