London (England) - The Wii's Virtual Console will be expanding with the addition of classic Commodore 64 titles, which will arrive first on the European version of the digital download service.

The Commodore 64 was the first major success in personal computing, selling an estimated 22 million units in its 12-year history from 1982 to 1994.  Over 4000 computer games were created for the system, which holds the Guinness world record as the best-selling PC model.

The Virtual Console currently offers back titles from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Turbografx-16 (CD), and Neo Geo.  Over 150 titles have been released on the digital platform.

The first two C64 titles confirmed for the Virtual Console are International Karate and Uridium.  These will be part of the initial set of titles, and will be available on European Wii consoles "soon", according to Nintendo.

Nintendo has not confirmed or denied the future availability of Commodore 64 titles on the Virtual Console in areas outside of Europe.
