Seriously though, I suspect that a lot of the games we're seeing on the Xbox360 that "look as good as or better than" the PS3 versions are in fact maxing out the 360's hardware to do so. Hence the failure rate (whether 30% or 17% or whatever it currently stands at). Microsoft needs to revamp their design, not just tweak it as they've done so far.

Seems they put less foresight into their system than the average PC hobbyist would.

This keeps happening. Bluescreens and crashes during Windows release presentations. Now a dead Xbox on display at a conference. :)
You'd think this should be enough to warn people away from the crap this company produces, but apparently not. It seems most people just like to suffer. And they're even willing to spend alot of money to do it.

Microsoft should have just made a box that works and GIVEN it to anyone who wanted one. Probably would have cost less and ensured top market penetration. Even the Wii couldn't stand up to FREE!

Didn't the original PS (the good one) have some persistent problem that Sony kept chasing? I seem to recall something that all my friends were worried about but noone ever saw it crop up. Of course, that was when Sony was _supposedly_ putting in "anti-3d party" bits that would burn out the machine if you used 3d party memory cards.

"There's no way of knowing if this particular console was manufactured before or after Microsoft identified the problems with the machines." - What, no serial number? Lot number? I'd expect they'd have the newer "Extreme Edition" machines out there on the floor, which would be "after".

Of course, this may not be due to "THE" problem. It may have been a hdw failure as the result of being hauled from show to show and abused time and time again like only a floor model can be. Or someone dropped it causing something to break that didn't blow up right away. But its no fun if that's the case. Anyway, I've got a somewhat new 360, but still I point a 10" fan and keep it stood on end to help the heat.

That just sums up Microshaft doesn't it. The fact that they go to a conference and do not even check the Hardware works before they go is just the lame attitute the build quality of the Hardware in general.

M$ may be thinking ahead with its approach to media sharing and Sony could take stock but clearly this comes at a price - Red Ring of death - that's what you get when you've been Micro-shafted!!
