With all the problems with the XBox, I would not doubt that the PS would do well.

360 still has about a 10 million console lead on the PS3 (based on last financial statements). I'm sure the PS3 will close that gap over the next year but the article tries to make it sound like it happened already.

As soon as more people realize that every decent game gets ported to PC, no one will bother buying a RRoD ridden piece of shit. So I'll stick with PC and PS3. The 360 is the worst, more poorly developed console in the history of video games. It's complete trash and everyone knows it.

For the first time the PS3 took #2 in sales for ONE MONTH. It's not even close to the #2 position in overall sales. If anyone thought the Xbox360 was going to keep it's current sales pace after this many years on the market they need to do some research. Considering the demographic they are aimed towards (which makes it hard to compare to the Wii's sales success) they have done extremely well and have had great penetration. The fact that sales are slowing is just proof that they have sold to just about everyone that is going to buy one at this current price range. PS3 Fanboys need to take the PS3s entire sales trends and compare it to the Xbox 360s sales trends on direct scale. For a product that came out 1 year after the Xbox 360 the PS3 should have been beating the 360 month to month a while ago if it was going to have a chance at succeeding. At this point the next generation Xbox will be on the way before the PS3 finally gets off the ground. Does that really define 'success'?

ps3 functions as a great movie player w/ the added benefit of playing games. 360 is a great gaming machine w/ great online play and xbox live. the wii is a childs toy good for retro gaming. i have all three and think the wii is over hyped and doesnt deserve to be compared to the ps3 or 360. still waiting for a killer exclusive for the ps3 (gt5)so for now ps3 plays my movies 360 plays my games wii goes to my 6 year old

Ive been using a Wii recently, playing mario galaxy spoecifically. and ive come to the conclusion that, while innovative, it has more bugs than a pile of poo.
In all honesty, it really bugs the crap outta me. The Xbox 360 is more solid, has never given me issues when reading discs, doesnt require a reset every time i want to change a game, and doesnt hurt my wrist after 30 minutes of wii-sports.

The PS3 actually is going to have the lions share of mega hit titles, starting with GT5. I had an xbox for a little over a year and never did i see a game that even sparked interest (i played a ton of ninety nine nights, but it came free with the console).

Ok, Blu-Ray's not totally dead, obviously, it's beaten HD-DVD. The reason I say its dead though is that fixed media for movies is less and less useful every day. With Amazon, Apple, Netflix offering online "rentals", disk format means nothing. Netflix at the least, is also experimenting with serving up via PS3 and 360, so the drive seems a moot point in that regard.

Also, no mystery about the PS2, it is bargain basement right price right now and used, still functioning games are easy to come by. I also wonder if the pricing isn't such that folks looking for a spare DVD player aren't buying the PS2.

If the sales are so much in favor of PS3, maybe that's just an availability factor. There seem to be a lot more PS3s on the floor than 360s, not to mention Wii.

Honestly, you calling the PS3 trash is pretty funny. I'm sure you've never even touched a PS3 controller let alone played one. It's true that the Xbox 360 is better for online play, the Wii is better for group playing (in person). The PS3 (thanks to blu-ray) has a larger data compacity than the Xbox. the PS3 has 7 processors and rediculous graphics rendering power.
The Xbox... all of the good games at one point in time get ported to the PC, and my PC can run any Xbox game (thats been ported to PC that is) at least as good as the Xbox if not better with an easier and customizable interface. One of the only things the Xbox has over the PS3 is its online ability... the game developement will come in time, Xbox has been out a year longer than the PS3 so naturally will have a larger game database.
Thanks to Sony for allowing the PS3 to have a linux install, I can actually stream any game installed on my PC to my PS3 through a LAN. So, if the best Xbox games get ported to PC, and if I can run any PC game to my PS3... then that must mean I can play the best Xbox360 games on my PS3.

you know why? it's because of the people they market. First of all, wii is marketing to casual games...mening old folks, children, females.
old people is on fix income, they can play the same wii sports over and over for ages... I don't see them playing mario party or buying a new game every week. Children has limited pocket money.
Female? like my wife , she is a non-gamer. She heard about all this hipe about wii, so she got me to buy one... but after that...she seldom plays at all. When you are a non-gamer like most women, they will rather use the computer to browse macy's web site to look for bargan clothers than spending time on wii. They will get tired of it really quick and won't keep buying games. so yes, wii is selling machines initially, but you know that from sales figure they are not really selling a lot of software...
Most gamers are man from age 12-40....they got way more money to spend and can buy tons of games....
if they are not playing on pc, they are playing on ps3 or xbox. that's why in the end, xbox and ps3 sales will increase more than wii, once the hype is gone. and you know xbox and ps3 price will comes down next christmas...

Granted, there are more games with better selection on Xbox360. However, to say that PS3 has NO good games is a definite hyperbole.

Oblivion, MotorStorm, Assassin's Creed, Madden '08, Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden, and others are out there and are great games. Many aren't exclusive to the PS3, but that doesn't strip them of being a good game. Not to mention exclusives that will be out shortly like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Gran Turismo 4 are looking very good so far.

So please... we know where your loyalties lie, but be fair in representing the facts. At least make it obvious that it's only your jaded opinion.

Would never ever buy a 360. Halo, Bioshock, Mass Effect, you can take that sci fi crap and shove it. The 360 appeals more to the Dungeons and Dragons type, anytime I've gone into a Blockbuster or Hollywood video and asked about PS3 games I've encountered 19 year old pimple faced braces wearing geeks saying, "we don't know we like Xbox 360". Give me So Com, Metal Gear Solid, and Uncharted. 360 is for geeks.

may have sealed the deal for them in terms of getting more machines sold. I now own all three consoles and although I hate the fact that the PS3 in Europe was completely wiped of backwards compatibility there are rumours of a firmware upgrade in summer.

Seeing that Toshiba have stopped producing HD-DVDs officially now it means that the PS3 is now the most attractive Blu-ray player on the market because of all the added functionality.

The one thing the PS3 really needs to seal the deal? More games, Drake's Fortune was excellent. Ratchet and Clank is good fun for the moment.

However the 360 still has a way better library of games and the Wii still has a hell of a lot hype still flowing about it with SSMB coming out soon that is definitely going to get gamers buying. Let us not forget Wii Fit as well!

Yo, you're completely incorrect. Unlike the PS3/Xbox 360, even if Nintendo JUST sells the hardware, they make a substantial profit. In other words, Sony/MS have to recoop on the loss of their hardware via other means (accessories, games), whereas Nintendo profits off of the console alone. The Wii isn't making substantial software sells? As per GameInformer, 50% of the top selling games are Wii games. Most of the other are XBox 360. I believe the Wii will -definately- win the console war, mainly for what you just said. They target a much broader audience, and they do it effectively.

Next time, do some research.

I wouldn't be surprised if it stays this way for at least another six months. My reasons:

1) I think most of the people who were going to buy a 360 already have. I guess that's point of saturation?

2) The 360 won't function forward as a high def player other than by downloads - which I still don't believe is going to take over for at least 3 or 4 years. Many people may be fortunate enough to have immense enough bandwidth to download HD video but that's not me, and it's not anybody I know. Unless they want to wait for 8 or more hours. And there's a certain satisfaction to having a massive rack of movies to show in your own home. Bragging rights if you will.

3) The ps3's exclusives are going to start showing up. (mind you, the 360 has some great exclusives too) but now there will be more ps3 exclusives.

4) GTA 4. I think that'll sell consoles on both sides of the fence but if someone doesn't have an HD movie player, and they need a console still, which console do you think they'd pick?

every place I saw a wii display is always the free
wii sport. everytime I see it on the news, it's the same old people playing wii sport.
You see a lot of old people buying games at best buy? no... The entire old people home buy 1 machine and plays one free game.
Have you see any girl around best buy or walmart looking at games to buy? No.....the wife are trying to get their kids and husband away from the electronic/game section while they are shopping for fashion...Habit won't change.

you have to look at it at the course of live of the concole to see how much money the companies are making off the customer.
on general, the wii consumers will buy the machine... Nintindo may make $50...but then they don't sell a lot of games.
For xbox and ps3...they still make the same $50 on each machine(ps3 are not sold in a loss anymore.)
but they sell a lot more games...each games they make a few dollar more.

The sales number are not that much different
for the 3 concoles (it's not like 1 tripling the other) and a lot of people own all 3.....
but I doubt the kids will get a wii compare to a xbox or ps3 if they can pick only one ....

you have to count ps2 sales since they are still selling like hot cakes while first gen xbox and game cube is dead in electonic stores.
