Mitac International, the largest Taiwan-based maker of GPS portable navigation devices (PNDs), will shift its business focus from desktop PCs to GPS PNDs sold under its Mio brand, according to company president Billy Ho at a press conference on February 13. Mitac expects its total shipment volume of GPS PNDs to reach 10-11 million units in 2008, consisting of eight million Mio units and two to three million units on an ODM/OEM basis, Ho indicated.
