New York (NY) - Rockstar Games, the company behind the Grand Theft Auto series, the latest installment in the violent street life simulation franchise is just a few months away from being released.

In an interview with Computer & Video Games, Rockstar confirmed that GTA IV is just "three/four months away from release" and that right now it is "virtually complete."

Additionally, the game developer noted that a lot has changed since the title's last preview.  The game is in a very, very different place now.  It's improved in virtually every single way imaginable," it said.

Shortly after that interview, Rockstar announced the game's official release date.  It will be April 29, just a few days after the fiscal year of Rockstar's parent company Take Two ends, on April 25.

I'm not really a big fan of GTA, mainly because I never really got around to playing any of the previous versions, but I heard a lot about the games... Glad to know that there're still some seriously good games being made out there... Wonder when Serious Sam 3 is coming out... Lol...

GTAIV is being release simultaneously on PS3 and Xbox360. So far I haven't seen any mention of a PC release, but the others in the series have had a 6 month to a year lag time. So expect to wait a while. And the 360 is the only version that is getting additional downloadable contact. Hurray for Microsoft's deep pockets.

I was looking forward to this game, but dates pushed, pc releases pushed further, bugs for pc versions to be worked out even later... I wish I'd never heard about it in the first place. I'll try to forget everything about it until I finally am a week away from actually the hands on experience... I'm never gonna get a console by the way in this day and age.
