people hack it because they can, as is the case with more then just the iPhone. people needs to get off this phones b-sack already.

Apple opened up the device to third party developers. They're one step ahead of hackers and (as Reiter points out at IE) ahead of the rest of the tech world.

It does not require hardware modification.
Since when would changing code need to change hardware. You took that information from another source that was wrong. Check that website you talk about in this article it even says on the website its not a hardware change. Good research...

Hackers hacked what THEY locked. Of course APPLE can do it, that is a no brainer, they can simply remove the restraint. As far as them releasing an SDK, ITS ABOUT TIME. They should have done that before the phone was released. Since we can use third party apps NOW and unhacked iphones can not, that makes US ahead, not Apple.

As far as them being ahead of the tech world, HAH. They ripped off PC's (intel chips etc), they ripped off an Open source os to creat OSX, and they ripped off the Iphone from idea's that have been around forever (a touchscreen phone with an OS that supports full screen browsing, wow yeah that has never been done...)

I have an Iphone, I love it, but it isn't a revolutionary design and nothing it offers hasn't been offered before. They just took a lot of the "hit" items from phones and combined it in 1. There are already several devices that are coming out with the same technology as the iphone but with improvements and more "hits". Apple made a nice phone, with flaws just like any other technological product. Get over it, Apple is NOT original.
