Joliet (IL) - Grant's Appliances, one of the top 30 electronics retailers in the US, has joined the growing list of stores that have gotten rid of HD DVD and decided to promote Blu-ray exclusively.

According to a source at Grant's, the entire chain has stopped ordering new HD DVD supply, and the existing inventory has already been depleted.

Target is the first headlining retail chain to move to Blu-ray exclusively.  Blockbuster retail locations and other smaller chains such as BJ's Wholesale have followed suit.  Kmart is the only national retailer siding with HD DVD at least in some locations, however in several stores it does also stock Blu-ray hardware and software.

Grant's Appliances, headquartered in Joliet, Illinois, operates 10 stores in the Chicago area and has annual revenues of $72 million.  It is the 26th largest electronics retailer in the country, according to Twice.com.

Update: Our industry source confirmed that Grant's is currently offering LG's hybrid HD DVD/Blu-ray player.
