New York (NY) - Immediately before the Christmas holiday, XM Radio settled a lawsuit brought forth by Warner Music Group over XM's portable digital recorder.

Warner filed the lawsuit because it claims the XM Pioneer Inno device, which allows users to record any song broadcast over the airwaves with the push of the button, breaks broadcast copyright standards.

Terms of the settlement deal were not disclosed, though the two companies confirmed that the agreement will cover all future devices with similar copying abilities.

Less than a week prior, XM also struck a similar deal with Universal Music, which had also filed suit against the satellite radio provider.

I got one button recording from regular radio to CD or tape also. why is that not illegal? just because now that from XM it sound better and closer to CD? either way, Warner and Universal both sucks and I will not buy any product from them.

Individual people do not have the money worth coming after using lawsuits compared to the money XM has available. Well I guess I'm wrong cause the RIAA is suing people now because they share songs they rip from CDs. But hey, XM offered the companies an easy target; I can't blame them because they've been such dinosaurs when it comes to adopting new distribution technologies that they're suffering financially. I almost had to laugh at my last comment.

So, what was seen in "Family Guy - Star Wars episode 4" is true, unless you have a hard and harder time, with drm and more of the kind, you are not to record anything, despite the technology being there. The technology is not there to serve people, it is there to make money (gee, I knew that). TRUE! I will never buy from Warner and Universal again! This is worse than RIAA and that single mother case.
