Looks like Warner is inching towards HD DVD exclusivity!!! LOL!

Guess the HDDVD side needed to get their sales numbers up one way or another.

Hopefully my set thats coming in will be fine, although there are comments on amazon that some sets are just plain missing a movie.

...for buying a box set of a film series that isn't even finished yet. Good grief, people.

How the heck did that happen? If they're coming out on both formats its just a simple mixup.

I dunno, being that they receive the BD set, would it count as 5 discs sold? Just another wrench in the gears of all the bean counters trying to sort this stuff out. Or has BD gotten into the habit of giving away discs so much, that it's even handing out HD?

Box set is worthless when the series isn't even finished yet. You either get a box set and get the last two films separate or you keep getting box sets. Either way, it's a waste of money or looks like crap. I'm glad my sis likes those movies. She can get them individually , and I can wait until they're all out and get the complete set in a high def format when the prices are low.

Start watching get to disc 4......damn......lol....ohh wait anyone with a dual drive(or player) will be fine :)

Ok it's like this.

1st. Blue-Ray is winning the HD battle. Sales of Blue-Players and Movies Vs. HD-DVD are 2 to 1. This is the facts. Say what you want about HD-DVD.

2nd. Walk into a Best-Buy, Target or whereever and check out the Blue-Ray Vs. HD-DVD selection. It's 2 to 1 as well. There are more movies available on Blue-Ray by a factor of 2. Now wouldn't that be a deciding factor in what you'd buy? The selection you'd get?

3rd. For $399 or less now you can get a PS3 game console that includes a not too shabby Blue-Ray player. Now doesn't it make sense to pay maybe a little extra and get the PS3 and you can have both? And if by a miracle HD-DVD format wins out, at least you still have a game console.

Obviously I'm a Blue-Ray fan but honestly I wish there wasn't a format war at all. Seasons Greetings.

its a little blue when i look into harvey norman and blue ray players are more expensive then the ps3. i bartered with a sales clerk for nearly 30 minutes before i could convince him to throw in 5 dvd's (mostly including adam sandler unfortunately) and $100 off the price ($AUD) to make it conceiveable for me to buy the player from him rather then a games console from EB.

Come on guys, why argue over format wars. I still use my good old Beta tapes and they are far superior. Ok, in all serious I still see no reason to move away from standard DVDs. I use a 22 year old television and I doubt I'd get any benefit from these new formats which are overpriced and will probably be gone in a few years.

Blue Ray lovers would not be so happy if it was only br on the market. do you think the price of playstation3 and the blue ray players would be dropping like flys, NOT, people should support both , this way big companies make either no money or very little, I have a hd-dvd and thinking of buying a playstation3 just to keep both alive and well

Despite over 10 v 1 lead in players it looks like the Harry Potter release is not going to result in a big lead for Blu-ray.

Same as happens every time, a small lead, maybe, but never anything of size or real substance.

Even the BDA have said that 2007 has only seen a BD lead of 4 million discs to 2.7 over HD DVD.

No wonder so many people are backing away from any idea of a Blu-ray win.

It's just a matter of time, HD DVD sells movies.

Blu-ray is just a game console format with a little bit of standalone & PC burner activity bolted on.

If not for the competition in these early months of HD sales we would be paying far more for either format. Eventually one format will win over the other and then prices will stabilize. The only problem I have with Blu Ray is that Sony will probably make it difficult if not impossible for other manufacturers to build Blue Ray players. This will keep the price artificially high while Sony makes a killing.

Got mine in the mail yesterday from Amazon. Packaging design is A . However instead of getting the misplaced HD version of goblets (4th year) My copy was completely missing. With the way the inside is packaged im wondering how it would even fit. Who knows the cause. Some disgruntled person at the end of the assembly line. Amazon is sending me a replacement set in time for christmas...just hoping this set will contain the right pieces.

there are already over 10 manufacturers with standalone bd players: samsung, philips, panasonic, lg, marantz, denon, pioneer, sharp, sony, funai, loewe, daewoo. I think this may allay your fears. sony is not the one-eyed monster the media portrays.
