San Francisco (CA) - Online newsletters and other cyber documents tailored to a specific product or service category may soon become sprinkled with ads powered jointly by Adobe and Yahoo.

Adobe's part in the venture comes mainly in the format with which the new system deals - PDF. Online publishers will be able to submit PDF documents to the companies and have them insert paid ads.

The Associated Press reports that this is the first time Adobe has opened up its PDF (Portable Document Format) platform to dynamic advertisements, which can be programmed to change each time a reader opens the document.

Adobe senior VP Rob Tarkoff said in a statement, "As advertisers look to touch new audiences, readers can look forward to some exciting Adobe PDF content coming their way."

According to the Associated Press, Pearson Education and Meredith Corporation have already signed up for the new service.  No financial terms related to the project were disclosed.
