Wii is a joke who are buying these things. HD is where its at. PS3 360 High End PCs are the cool things to have not the gay wii.

As a PC gamer, the only console I'd consider is the Wii, it is the only console that offers something different than what I can get on my PC.

Well, 5 months ago, I thought the frenzy about Wii was all hype, but you can't sell these many consoles in 12 months, based on Hype. Like election results based on exit polls, it's safe to call Wii the winner for this generation of consoles. That's not to say the other systems won't do very well, but I jsut don't see Wii slowing down in the next 12 months...I think Xbox 360 is going to hold onto 2nd place with ease against PS3, but I don't see it catching Wii. My wife is getting one for the kids this holiday season, which is fine with me, since i don't have to worry about them trying to play my 360.

I am a hardcore PC FPS player and have every console ever made (at least since PONG). The Wii is by far the funnest console I have ever played. For those that swear by the PS3 and Xbox 360, buy a PC and play the same games...especially the shooters. The Wii was not meant to be a high end graphics eye candy specticle, it was meant to be fun as all consoles should be. It delivered!

I own a high-end computer, a 360, and a Wii.

I never owned a playstation so I don't have a Ps2 or 3, but again who cares even if I did.

My opinion is buy all of them and find out what you like. I play mine in a weird cycle:

got sick of Worms and Uno on X-box live, so I played Halo 3. Got sick of that and played Trauma Center on the Wii. Ohh sick of that, then I'll switch to Civilization 3 on the PC.

Ignoring price completely, the Wii gives me an experience I can't have on my PC. By comparison the PS3 and Xbox360 are dilluted versions of my PC.

The people who posted these comments are obviously not happy with the $500? ps3 that they purchased 12 months ago at launch. I can happily say that I was one of the four poeple (2 of them were friends) waiting in line for the wii on launch date(it was at k-mart if anyone was wondering). I couldn't be happier with my Wii/high end pc gaming duo.

the wii has games for it now? because it has supermario galaxy and super smash bros? those two games and wii play and wii sports are the only games people play on the wii and nice comment on the insanely overpriced. The wii is much cheaper to make than its selling price, all it is is a dualcore processor thats worth probably 70 dollars and a dvd rom drive with about 10 dollars, and by the way the graphics look I'd say the graphics card doesn't cost much more than the dvd drive. Nintendo probably makes over 100 dollars on each console they sell while song loses money and offers bluray and powerful processor and graphics components re:cell BE and RSX 400 dollars for a ps3's capability is not "insanely overpriced" its an insanely good deal go back to playing your 480P graphics on your toy, Vtech came out with a educational videogame system with comparible graphics to the wii so you should check out that system too...

I agree with Mike - as a computer gamer, Wii is the only console I would even think about buying. PS3 and X-Box 360 have nothing on my computer, and I don't even have a great computer.

With the Wii, its not about the graphics - and it never was. It's about unique and entertaining gameplay that you can't get anywhere else. Sure PS3 and X-box 360 have exclusive titles, but it doesn't matter if you can get the same type of game with the same gameplay elsewhere.

The Wii is the only console that most parents will consider for their kids as it will at least keep there arms moving and not just sitting there like Cart man in make love not warcraf t. :) No wonder it sells out the day it arrives off the truck.. Just my 2sents. peace.

Offers a completely different gaming environment. Does not need high def just to be fun, and is proving that over and over again as it sells out everytime it goes in stock. Besides, most people that own a Wii, already own a 360 or ps3.

I congratulate Nintendo for its new offerings, thinking out of the box worked out quite well. It makes a really good combination with my 360 halo edition and my Q6600/8800GT rig... just plain sweet.

I use other consoles and a PC. But I really like the Wii - the games are different the control interface (remote) is fun to use - and its much more sociable, especially with people that don't play video games.

Console wars have always been decided by GAMES, not hardware. Go back and look, you f'n moron, and tell me during which generation did the best hardware win?

Do you actually have a PS3? Did you buy it just to watch movies? On your 720p system or are you still watching 480i? Or are you just blowing smoke out of a certain orifice?

Wii is a game system. Just like the others sometimes claim to be. But Wii knows it's a game system and doesn't try to be anything else.

If Sony would get off its A55 and push some games out into the market, then maybe PS3 will get this kind of traction. They have already shown that price is a big factor in sales. But 3.7 million compared to over 5 million, just shows that they have been out-classed. The only problem Nintendo has is that they caught themselves by surprise and need to get their production up and running faster. They would have sold a lot more if they had their act completely together.

Sony has a format war to fight and Microsoft is also a fighter in this war and Nintendo is eating both their lunches by concentrating on what they do best, good old fashioned games that 95% of America (and most of the rest of the world) will enjoy playing.

Face it, the PS3/XBox (and gaming PC) crowd is a very small percentage of the true market for this stuff.

No I don't own a Wii, but my wife and kids are actually gunning for one for Xmas. That's the power of Wii. I game on a PC, it's the only way. I was playing HD back you you console jocks were still salivating over the puny crumbs that MS and Sony were dropping from time to time. And for less than the price of a Wii, I can upgrade my system to play even better. My kids get the hand-me-downs and have a system that would give any console a run for it's money.

How many more they would have sold if they were actually available. How can Nintendo underestimate the holiday season when they couldn't keep them on the shelf when it wasn't the holiday season.

When everybody was bragging about how great the PS2 was and amazing the Xbox was, I still had all these same people coming over on the wiikends to play on my gamecube. The graphics were the only thing holding it back, but the games were great for 4 players, despite age. Nintendo had this right.

Then the Wii came out. And here it is, proving the principle further. Great graphics and gore filled games are NOT what the general public wants. Many of us can still pick up classic games and play them and have a great time, yet many high end graphics games are as far as flopping because the gameplay is far from impressive.

Adding the Wiimote was a complete add-on to the game play. Though I yet to own a Wii (PC gamer primarily), its in the budget. But from what I have played, its very enjoyable, despite how "Gimmiky" the controls are.

With the success of the Wii, especially with how in demand the system is, more and more developers are coming to Nintendo wanting to develop for it. This is what happened with the PS2 years ago. Once the demand was strong, tons of developers came to it and expanded its library light years beyond the other systems at the time. This time around, it is the Wii with the growing library.

I don't like the Wii, but I bought one for my 7 yo. I enjoy playing games with him and I like the interface, but it is not for me. It also got my wife into "gaming" so that's cool. I am curious to see what Nintendo will do after getting a huge cash reserve with their re-worked gamecube (Wii). It was a brilliant move on Nintendo's part and Sony and MS are on the ropes. Sony, will continue to sell more consoles with their price adjustments, but MS is between a rock and a hard place. They have Nintendo stomping them and everyone else and then Sony moving consoles at a lower price. While I don't think MS is going to lose second place, I think any good news about Sony moving consoles will affect MS more because they are in the middle. Great job Nintendo, but I am waiting for a more sophisticated console from Nintendo with the Wii interface.
P.S.: I really don't get PC gamers. I refuse to keep up with the arms race (graphics card updates, etc) and I hate the keyboard/mouse option, so I guess that's why I am a console gamer.

I've owned Pong, two atari systems, the NES, the SNES, the N64, the virtual boy (that thing gave you headaches), the PS1, and still own the PS2, the XBox, the 360, and the Wii. I've owned and built more gaming PCs over the past 20 years than I can count. I figure that I've logged somewhere in the neighborhood of 35,000 hours playing video games. That's right around 4 solid years of gaming and THOUSANDS upon thousands of games played. (man, now I'm all depressed) I was goofing around on usenet and hacking with my 2400 baud rate modem long before some dumbass ever thought of calling himself L33T and before most of these silly children's mothers were ever impregnated by their crack dealing pimps. Who's your daddy? Maybe me.
The point? Back in the day you had to imagine that that little mess of blocks on the screen was Mario and that was awesome, because the gameplay was there the game was fun. At some point the design paradigm switched from being 'How do we make it more fun?' to 'How do we make that explosion bigger and more impressive looking?' These days there are a ton of games that are really pretty to watch, but no fun to play. I like pretty graphics, as my brand new monster $2K gaming rig will attest to; But when I sit down to play a game my litmus test is not 'How well does it use all those pixel shaders?', it's 'How much fun do I have playing it?'Fundimentally, the 360 and the PS3 are pixel grinders that are 4 product cycles behind the bleeding edge. The fundimental concept behind the Wii was 'Standard Def graphics are pretty enough for me; lets make it fun'. Now don't get me wrong, I loves me some Mass Effect; but if I want a game that I can play with an old fashioned controller, 9 times out of ten I can get that same game with better graphics and consistent patches and updates for my PC - I might have to wait a while but then I've got at least 100 games sitting on a shelf that I haven't gotten around to playing. However, the Wii control scheme - when properly implimented - adds a level of immersion that trumps HD graphics (heck, I can barely see the difference between SD and HD without squinting anyways). I'll take Metroid Corruption over any shooter on the 360 or PS3 in a heart-beat. (multiplayer FPS should stay on the PC like I intended) Call the Wii gimmicky if you want, but I remember when they called the improved 16-bit graphics gimmicky. In the broader scope, the Wii remote is way more sophisticated and technically impressive than the 360 or PS3 graphics. When a console trys to cash in on the graphics game it will always end up playing catch up to a gaming PC, when a console flat out does stuff that a PC can't, well then you've got something worth taking note of. Yeah, there have only been a handful of really good Wii games so far. Still more than on the PS3 and as developers are jumping off of the 360 ship and swimming over to the Wii in droves we will all see a lot more Wii games and a lot fewer 360 and PS3 games - it just makes for a better business case for them. Like it or not, the Wii is the future of console gaming. the 360 and PS3 are now vestigal, the last hold-outs of a soon to be bygone age. I guarrantee that in two years time the Wii software library will be better than twice the size of the 360 and PS3 libraries combined and I'm not talking about fluff game either. Fight the Wii if you want, but when it's all said and done, it will win and there's nothing that you can do to stop it. It's cro magnon vs neanderthal all over again.

Let's see, the PS3 does have the most sophisticated hardware - and it's in last place - and will stay that way. It's already lost, the accountants at the game studios have already made up their minds.
Not since the SuperNES of what 15 years ago has the most sophisticated hardware won the console war.

The Xbox was the most sophisiticated of the PS2, gamecube and xbox and it was dead last, the PS2 won that round because the developers embraced that platform.

The N64 was the most sophisticated of the Playstation, N64 Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar & 3DO and we all know that the Playstation won that war because the developers embraced the platform. (Neat aside: did you know that the Playstation started out as a CD-Rom add on for the Super Nintendo?)

I'll be buying a Wii for my 4 year olds (yes, twins). There are a lot more 4-year olds out there who want a Wii than adult gamers with $400 to shell out for a PS3. Anyone who doesn't think a 4-year old influences the economy has never had a 4-year old.

I play on a PC with graphics that blow away a PS3. I've been playing in HD for years! And by the time you're shelling out for a PS4, I'll still have better graphics than you. And, I can edit and render video, edit pictures, watch and record movies in High-Def (if I decide to get a BD-R), and do all sorts of other things with it. The possibilities are endless and it's fully upgradeable.

If it's all about graphic quality, why game with a console. 8800 Ultras in SLI with a QX CPU would be the way to go. And before you bring up cost, remember that Wii is much cheaper than PS3.

PS3 = $500 for 9 processors that no games need and a controller with 4 triggers, 2 thumbsticks, and a 8 buttons that no one cares to figure out how to use.

I'm really glad to see Nintendo made it out ahead. They took a chance at a point where they were looking at bankruptcy. Now they're back on top. You know why? They realized the gaming public was sick of seeing the same trash being produced over and over again.

The great graphics. All the eye candy. All the hype. You'd buy the game for your PS2/XBox and bring it home. You find yourself yawning after 5 minutes wondering where's the game play? Where's the fun in this game? After owning a Playstation and a PS2 (Yes, I did know the PSX was originally developed by Nintendo in colaboration with Phillips, Todd) I found myself realizing that Sony and Microsoft were developing eye candy, and not games. Games were becoming more and more boring with the same redundant crap. Then the PS3 and XBox 360 came out with these outrageous prices for them. Sony, if I recall correctly, even tried to call their system a replacement for the computer.

Well, I don't want a "replacement" for my PC. I like my PC. I do like PC games, because I do think they play certain games better than console games because of the mouse/keyboard combo. So shoot me if I like PC games. So I'm looking at this $600 console and saying to myself, "I just want a GAMING console!" I don't want a gaming console to play DVDs, or be in high def, or play streeming media, or do whatever it is they think I want. So, I opted not not to buy the PS3. I thought the PS2 would be the last console I'd ever own, because to me, the gaming industry seemed to be abandoning the whole gaming concept, and going for more eye candy. Then just when my hopes are up, in comes the Wii.

You know why I found the Wii so attractive? Because it was just what I wanted: A GAMING system. No fancy high-def. No stupid streeming media or anything like that. It just played games, and that's EXACTLY what I wanted. So I tried the Wii at a friend's a house, and my wife and I instantly fell in love with this thing. It was fun, and it was cheep.

At this point, I don't care about graphics anymore. I just needed some good ol' fasioned gameplay that had been a lack there of over the past few years or so. As a side note: I did buy an XBox 360, because I do love my sports games, and sports games are much more fun to play on a console. Plus, my PS2 was dying. Yet for everything else, even FPSs and adventure games, and even those party games, the wife and I really love the Wii.

Sure. I enjoy eye candy just as much as the next guy, which is why having my Xbox 360 and my PC compliment my Wii so well. The Wii offers things that the other two can't, and visa versa. In all sincerity, however, it's been a while since I've had this much fun on a console in a while.

Yes Wii fans are the Ultimate of Stupidity. The

It seems as though people think gamers are one group. They are not. A lot of you are gaming enthusiasts, as am I. Old school gamers are usually pc people. In the day it was all a person can do to tweek his pc to get better framerates and resolutions. Today, the differnce in games for the pc and the xbox 360 are getting blurry. The COD4 and Halo3 games have fantastic controls and excellent graphics. Though a pc could shred a xbox360 in terms of horsepower, the games being released are of similiar quality. It all depends on what a person prefers. Definetly the xbox360 is easier to configure (there is no configuring relatively) and is cheaper than todays pc's. These days I tend to play more xbox360. But lets wait until the next big mmo comes out and see which is more fun.

The Wii however is not for typical gamer (typical gamer=enthusiast). Lets face it, graphics and power are the critical elements. For most gamers a Wii is an absurd choice. The Wii has its niche. That is reflected in its sales. And its sales do not reflect negatively on those who bought it. The Wii is a lot of fun for a great amount of people. I like the tennis and the bowling. The ps3 is probably as great as the xbox360. They just need some games. (off topic but does any1 know if mgs4 is going to be out for the 360)

In the end there is no reason to get angry or get upset because somebody buys a console that you would not choose. The only thing that matters, whatever system you do choose, is that you have fun and get to enjoy what you have. I wish every1 a happy holidays and have lots of fun gaming.
