Dallas (TX) - HDNet will air a live Democratic presidential debate this weekend, making it the first channel broadcast exclusively in high definition to do so.

The debate will be held in Iowa, the first state in the country to conduct a primary election, on January 3.  It will be moderated by NPR's Michele Norris and PBS's Ray Suarez and will be broadcast exclusively on HDNet.

HDNet is an exclusive satellite/cable channel that airs high definition programming 24/7, including more original HD programming than any other networks in the same category.  The debate will be the first presidential debate to air on a specialized HD channel.

Frontrunners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be present, as will Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinic, and Bill Richardson.

The debate will air at 8:00 PM Eastern time, with a pre-debate show starting at 7:30.  HDNet's lead news anchor Dan Rather will host the 30-minute preview.
