It's really annoying that vendors are even selling "draft 802.11n" products. IMO, I don't think they should be allowed until it has become a standard. What is it now, in draft v3.0? The editors of the draft were just asked now in November to draft v3.01 (look 802.11n up on Wikipedia and see for yourself).

I'm not spending a dime on anything that's not a certified real deal. None of this 'pre-n' and 'draft n' products for me.

I know Pre-N and DraftN aren't a standard yet but living in a 2story house with a basement, I thought I give it a try.

My Linksys Wireless-G Rangebooster router use to be in the basement. 2006 Black Friday I pickup the Belkin Pre-N and Laptop Pre-N card for 50 bucks (rather than 100 bucks normally).

My linksys Wireless-G rangebooster would do great on the basement floor, good/poor on the 1st floor, and poor or no connection on the 2nd floor.

With the Belkin Pre-N, I get Excellent all around the basement and the 1st floor. The 2nd floor gets Good connection and I never got anything below that. All my other desktops and laptops are still using their build on wireless or a linksys adapter and they work great with the belkin pre-n.

I do agree with this thread. I was not aware how they are changing chipset without changing model number and I am not very happy with that idea. Hopefully something can be done about it.

But I just want people to know, although wireless-N it is not a standard, there is a significant improvement over the Linksys wireless-G rangebooster I use to have.

Oh yea, my family does gaming, and bittorrent. Everyone has been happy with the Belkin Pre-N. Even CNET gave it a great review.

So the other reviewers. Please don't judge till you actually try it. I was lucky to try it out thanks to Black Friday '06.
