I'm sorry but I'd really like to know who is in charge of deciding what titles get released to the VC and the decision making process that goes into picking these games, because for the past 9 months I have not been impressed.

For awhile I though they were just holding back the goods to take the wind out of the sails of PS3 (which requires no work from anyone besides Sony's own corporate bungling really) and sales of the HaloBox(3)60 - which I happen to own and love. If Microsoft is doing anything right in keeping Nintendo Wii as sort of a second-rate family gaming console, it is doing so by continuing to flesh out such beautifully designed multiplayer/online environment. $100 wireless networking adapters aside (ouch that hurt the wallet), Microsoft has no significant competition from Nintendo in this regard.

But I digress. For someone who has spent in excess of $150 on VC points during the first six months after Nov. 2006, I haven't spent a dime on Wii (VC) points since that time and won't until Nintendo pulls its head out of its shorts and starts pumping the VC full of the titles we all know kicked "behind" back in their original cartridge day glory... TGFX16! WTF! I have yet to run into anyone I personally knew back during my childhood/teenage years who ever actually owned that system and the games thus far released do not reflect (proportionately) the sales of said systems and or their respective game titles (thinking strictly in terms of how that might related to popularity and Wii VC sales).

Until Nintendo shapes up its act with the VC releases I will continue to keep voting with my wallet (or the lack thereof).

Just out of curiosity, why do people wait to pay $5-$8 a piece for old Nintendo games? Do they not know emulators are easily downloadable for free that will play the whole NES library? Or, do they know and choose to pay for the games as a morality/legality issue? I just don't see paying $5-$8 for games I used to own 15 years ago when I can just download and play them for free on a PC.

Only computer nerds like us know how to run emulators. Majority of Wii owners are kids or older family members with no real geeky knowledge of 8bit emulators... but sega genesis, super nes, and etc are harder to find.

No i have not bought any VC games lol, none very tempting except for Landstalker. Only because it got lost some where in a house move before i could finish it.

I knew a kid with TurboGFx though and you have to Thank Nes Marketing! im very surprised it didnt stomp NES, it was far superior and didnt need a good "smacking" or blowing into cartridges to work.

If you own the NES console and the games legitimately, I think you can use the emulator to play them on PC. Because you already own the right to use the bios and the game binary. But if you don't, then $5 sounds like a right price to me for something great, like Mario.

I've known about emulators for a long time; I used to have a pretty extensive collection among NES, Genesis, and SNES games. But playing the game on the computer, while fun, just isn't the same. Some parts of the overall "experience" of the game gets lost in the emulation on the computer: holding the controller in your hands, playing it on your couch in front of the TV, knowing that there is no such thing as a save state. Really, I much prefer playing some of the older games on the VC than an emulator!

Oh, and there's that whole morality and ethics issue over copyright law, too, but this is 2007: Nobody cares about those kinds of things anymore! ;)
