Is this the best that Sony can come up with to leverage all that extra disk space Bluray fanboys point to as technological superiority?

Please... I prefer my demos to be downloaded via XBOX Live. Game demos on disk are soooo PC GAMER MAGAZINE circa 1995.

Interesting idea...wonder if this will turn out to be a more common occurrence with other movie/video game titles.
The latest Resident Evil movie kind of sucked, maybe adding a game demo with it will keep the blue ray sales for it slightly higher than they would have been?

Pretty stupid comment considering many people purchased the PS3 PRIMARILY AS A BLU-RAY PLAYER! This due not only to it being the best value available, but also the fact that to this day it is still considered one of the top blu-ray players around...

Pretty stupid comment in that the number of PS3s bought to be only a Blue-Ray player has got to be insignificant.

Actually, I bought the PS3 at launch as a game console, but found out that I only have one great game to play...after that I say...oh well I have Bluray player until the games start flowing. :)
I could see setup boxes (HD-DVD) outselling Bluray setup boxes and I find nothing wrong with the statement in the article. Sony's problem is how to get the games to religiously watch Bluray content on their PS3 as well as play games.

doesnt matter why you bought it, sony cant claim the ps3 as a standalone player since it is not one. really doesnt matter if you bought it for a nice shiny stand for the 360, its still a game console and has to be counted as one.
sony is doing anything they can to get a ps3 in your house. 1st it was a spider-man 3 bundle, now this. give up sony, your games arent as good as they used to be and no one can show the power of your system. games released at the same time for ps3 and 360 look the same.

Both my brother and I bought PS3's for BD playback. I, in turn, have since bought 2 games (and a PS2 game).

HD DVD fans don't want to admit it, but PS3's ARE often used as BD players...

lol, I didn't have a problem with anything said in the article. I was just commenting on the PS3 fanboy that blasted the article using the phrase "Pretty stupid comment". I just used the poster's own words to comment on his lame flame.

It seems any article that mentions HD-DVD or Blue-Ray brings out the fanboys of each camp and very few of the comments are based in reality. Doesn't help that many of the articles are obviously biased in one direction. I've critisized Mark Raby's articals before for being quite biased and mistating facts. However, this is one of the most objective articles I've seen from him.

I'm somewhat skeptical as RE5 isn't due until 2009. A demo readied for Jan 2 2008 would be highly preliminary. DMC4 makes more sense. Maybe the RE5 content will be a trailer.

My PS3 is primarily a Blu-Ray player by default. I've got 2 games (Resistance *yawn* and VF5 which I now have on 360 as well) and no interest in Rachet. I will probably get get Drake because I liked the demo and has an unopened 360 game to return (from the Toys 'R' Us 3-for-2 sale). I also picked up Live Free or Die Hard(4) Blu-Ray last night. Silly, over-the-top movie at MANY points, but some great twists on action and funny as hell.

why do xbox fanboys always categorize ps3 as a gaming console? when for the fact is that it's now closer to the pc category. ever heard of multi-media? how about multi-tasking? seems ps3 to me!

Perhaps ur ps3 is a blu-ray player by default because u hav bought hardly any games, I don't think it's for to say RFOM makes u yawn as it is pretty good for a launch title. I rcommend Motorstorm as it's alot better than those boring racing around a bland circuit games (i'm not really a fan of racing games, but i love Motorstorm), if u play online look no further than Warhawk a true AAA title (u won't need to play any other game online once u've got Warhawk), i know u said u r not intrested in ratchet but trust me ur missing out. I would also recommend Heavenly Sword, best try a demo first, if u resort to butten mashing then u may not enjoy the game but if u decide to learn and pratice the combos u will probably enjoy it vey much.

you'd prefer to use your bandwidth to download something that you could instead recieve effectively for free if you intended on buying the movie in the first place? I guess you'd also pay for an under powered machine and to play games online...

It's not just the new Rachet -- I was never into the Rachet or Jak & Daxter series. Maybe I'll rent ToD some day. I played the demo and while parts of it looked really good (the very beginning especially) I'm just not into those types of games anymore. Haven't been for a LONG time...

I bought Uncharted and I am enjoying it. It looks great and plays a lot like Gears of War & .killswitch combat-wise, with Prince of Persia & Tomb Raider elements thrown in. The animation is sick, too -- it's very lifelike as he kind of wobbles as he walks/runs and his stance matches the uneven ground he's standing on.

I only have 3 PS3 games because I own a 360 as well, and most multi-platform games come out there first or simulataneously (Sports). If only had a PS3, then I would have more PS3 games. Back at launch, I fiddled with the MotorStorm demo, but didn't buy the full game (which was delayed). MotorStorm didn't have online or maybe that's changed.

I didn't buy Heavenly Sword because word had it the game was OK, but short. I'm still finishing up God of War, then God of War 2. Resistance as well, never got around to finshing that one. My brother wants to borrow Uncharted for Heavenly Sword when I'm done, so that's what I'll do.

Are you aware you're jaded or is it something you just choose to ignore?
